Due to the popularity of the Rally Days organised at Penglais School the group of pupils have formed a Rally Club. The group are keen to get involved in local rallying events and some are now marshalling on local road rally events and getting involved in Auto tests. Ryland James from Go Motorsport contacted Fiona Balchin, who teaches Design and Technology at Penglais, and was keen to see what the club did and joined us on of our Rally Days in Sweet Lamb. The pupils were shown how to plot a small route and how to prepare a rally car for road rally. They were then navigators for the day taking the drivers around a small course which included DSO, PCs, 3 meter control and give ways. The pupils had a fantastic day and we would like to thank Chris Palmer, Barry Jones, Kellie and Lynzi Drewett, Richard ‘Milo’ James, Chris Hill, Marc Mayes, Dylan Balchin, Jess Francis, Carwyn ‘Tyres’ Evans, Rob Walters and Carwyn Davies for making the day a huge success. Without them we would never be able to show the pupils what a rally involves, and get them involved in the sport. A huge thank you also to past pupil, James Hatfield, for the excellent photos.
