Davies/Morgan close to maiden victory

Just two events were held over the month of June with the Bro Ddyfi followed by the PK Memorial rally the following week. The Bro Ddyfi, held in Machynlleth, would prove to be the toughest of the two rallies with just 26 crews finishing the event out of the 75 crews that started. Several farm tracks and ' whites ' made for a rough and challenging event not only for the crews, but their vehicles being put through a stern test. Marc Hughes however would finish the highest LDMC member on the rally navigating for Gary Roberts in his VW Golf. The pair finished in 8th O/a continuing Marc's recent string of top 10 finishes on recent events even after having to overcome a few problems. Chris Palmer followed very closely behind, by a mere two seconds,. to finish 9th O/a  in his Ford Escort Mk2. Owain Evans and Arfon Griffiths brought their Ford Escort Mk2 home a few places back in 12th.

The PK memorial rally, the sixth round of the WAMC Road Rally Championship was held the following weekend. Stefan Davies and Rhodri Morgan were to be the suprise package of the event when they held and overall lead at the petrol halt in their 1600 crossflow Escort Mk2. The pair had a thrity second lead as they headed into the second half of the event but unfortunatly were unable to hold off last years winners Richard Jerman and Iwan Jones who pipped them to the post and taking the victory by just over a minute. Davies/Morgan however did finish and excellent 2nd O/a and the award for first Experts. Daniel "Lwni" Jones had been hoping to get his championship back on track after the dissapointment of the previous round but it just wasn't to be once more and he finished a lowly 48th O/a but still managed to gain some valuable championship points. Kevin Davies also had an event to forget when he finished 66th O/a on the event after aquiring fourteen fails.
