After a number of years driving four-wheel drive and much more modern machinery, Lampeter & District Motor Club Member and Pumpsaint garage owner Melvyn Evans was back in a Historic spec Ford Escort Mk2 on the recent Killarney Historic Rally.

Debuting his stunning yellow & black Mk2 on this event, Melvyn with Irishman Sean Hayde on the notes started the event at car 7. They led class D3 through out the day, climbing from 20th o/a to 12th o/a in the main field at the end of the rally. This result gave them an excellent 4th o/a in the Historic Section

Another L&DMC member to make the trip across the Irish sea was Tomos Davies, who was joined by Dai Roberts on the notes as his regular co-driver, Eurig Davies, was at home expecting the birth of his first child.

A previous winner of the Killarney Historic Rally, Tomos started the rally well was on the pace as he held the class lead through out the day’s 9 stages, going from 19th o/a at the end of the 1st stage to an excellent 7th o/a by the end of the rally, giving him & Dai 2nd o/a in The Histori
