Club members pose with students from Bro Pedr school in front of the clubs stand
In the build up to Rali Ceredigion, this year held on the 4th to the 6th of September, the organising clubs, including Lampeter and district motor club, held a school experience day at the Pafiliwn Bont at Pontrhydfendigaid. This is part of the events Rail Engage initiative, one of the series of events and collaborations that the rally holds, with its aim being to continue to build on the strong relationship the event has with the local communities as well as further educating the public on the sport itself. This event would see some 250 pupils from six different schools from the Ceredigion and Powys attend the event, which area in an effort to promote the event and the sport of rallying, as well as to educate students with with knowledge on the potential career pathways available to them with involvement in the sport.
Members of the club would be involved with a stand promoting the club, with a couple of donated rally cars on display from the members as well as having sheets and pamphlets displaying the activities and events the club are involved with, there would be pamphlets educating on auto testing, rallying, for navigating and drivers, as well as a few club members present who could answer any questions people would have regarding motorsport. The day would be a great success with many of the students showing a keen interest in the sport. TV coverage was given with “Heno” on S4C including a piece on their afternoon show. Credit should be given to the members involved who ran a very professional stand and a successful day and everyone looked forward to building on this momentum and continuing to inspire the next generation.
